Happy 2017! Crazy to think the holidays have come and gone. I was genuinely sad to take down our Christmas decorations this year. The house was so warm and festive, and with the decor put away, it just felt empty. We left our snowmen/winter stuff up, but I didn't have much to put out for Valentine's Day. I began searching Pinterest and some of my favorite stores for inspiration.
I found some festive supplies and Target; doilies, clothespins with V-day labels, and some ideas. I tend to see something in the store and think to myself 'I can make that!' I did some wandering around Hobby Lobby (Luke wanted to kill me) and came home with some ribbon, beads, trim from the clearance section, and poster board. I was ready to DIY some decor!!
1st project: wine charms.
The idea stemmed from some $3 'fray' charms in the Target Dollar Section.
I used silver wire and 2-3 beads for each charm. I bent the wire around the glass so it can be removed for washing, but also stays on to ID your glass.
2nd project: V-day doily garland
I used 3 different colors of doilies found in the dollar section at Target and trim I found in the clearance section of Hobby Lobby. Simply tape doilies to the trim and drape across the mantle.
3rd project: what to do with left over doilies? Add some color to the bare-feeling kitchen!
I used ribbon to attach to the window locks and taped the doily to the ribbon. Permanent marker to write misc. V-day phrases/words on the doilies!
4th project: my take on the Tree of Love
I used branches from the yard in a tall glass vase and draped ribbon from Hobby Lobby to add some color. The V-day clothespins were found in the dollar section of Target.
5th project: XOXO letters
I drew the letters on black poster board and cut them out using an Xacto knife. They are hung on the shutters from fishing line. Trim left over from garland and ribbons from Christmas. Love!! This was my favorite project.
Check out the rest of the winter and Valentine's day decor around the house!
Living room...
Red candles found at Goodwill. Adds another V-day touch to the mantle!
Touch of love on the bar cart.
Not sure who the I love you is directed to.... Rum Chata or each other...
My Saturday find, a pretty cake stand, still looking for a touch of red to add.
Kitchen...
V-day towels found in the dollar section of Target.
Dining room decor left over from Christmas -
switched out the table cloth for a table runner and it has a whole new look!
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
DIY is fun,
I hope you think so too!
Xoxo,
Jenn
